JACK SHUM is the Executive Vice President of Lakewood Real Estate Solutions. With more than 30 years dedicated to serving in front-line positions within all aspects of the real estate industry, Mr. Shum is the embodiment of the word “experience.” He was the owner of a south Florida home building company, and occupied management posts at the publicly-held Gulfstream Land and Development Company. He initially worked as a civil engineer with commercial engineering firms as well as holding management positions in production operations, land development, purchasing, construction, warranty and quality control with several Chicagoland builders including Hoffman Homes in the 1970s when it was the leading home building company in the region. Mr. Shum joined Buz Hoffman in the mid-1990s to oversee all production operations at the fast-growing Lakewood Homes. He has been integral to the success of Lakewood Homes, with hands-on experience that encompasses Lakewood’s land acquisition, feasibility, annexation negotiations, and obtaining local, state and federal permits as well as establishing and managing special service area tax bonds with municipalities throughout the Chicago suburbs. For 10 years Mr. Shum was a licensed General Contractor in the state of Florida. He is a former member of the Gold Coast Builders Association and a member of the Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago.
